Have a marvellous May with a beautiful necklace from Glittery Prize!
Welcome back to our blog - and of course, to the May giveaway! It's been a very busy month here at
Mattched IT HQ, so Handmade Crafts has
taken a bit of a back seat for a week or two - which is a shame because we have a few fun ideas we want to try out.
Nonetheless, here we are, and we are very lucky to have another wonderful sponsor for this months giveaway.
Before I hand you over to Trudi from Glittering Prize, the usual official stuff needs to be said:
To enter, we'd simply visit Trudi's site and then come back here and post a comment telling us what
you think of her beautiful beads (not a euphanism!) - and which of her makes is your favourite.
Entries are accepted at our discretion and the winner will be chosen at random. The giveaway will close at
midnight on Tuesday 31st May - the end of the month.
Lets hear from Trudi at Glittering Prize!
I've been making jewellery for several years and about four years ago I decided to try my hand at
lampworking to make my own glass beads. One go and I was hooked!! Now I spend my crafting time split
between making beads and creating jewellery.
I find the beauty of lampworking is that you can make really unique beads in the size and colour
that you want – there is no defined style. Even after four years I've only scratched the surface of what
you can do lampworking; there are so many techniques and styles to learn. I do find that I'm drawn to
lighter transparent colours, the light bounces through them and really brings them to life!
Now I have beads I can use in my own jewellery designs and I find in particular that I use a lot
of crystals, ceramic beads and sterling silver with the lampwork as they compliment each other well.
Being able to make a piece of customised jewellery is so rewarding, and you know that they will stand
out and be noticed.
When I started out I had no idea where the craft would lead me, and I have been very fortunate to meet
so many new friends and amazing people through my shared interest. I've now also written several
lampwork tutorials for Beads & Beyond magazine, something I never thought I'd do when I was starting out.
The piece in the giveaway is a necklace made in my favourite colours, blue and green and the beads have
been strung on a light blue leather cord with silvered ceramic beads.
