Win a beautiful pair of leaf detail earrings from Jenny Gilbert
Well, I hope the weather has held out where you are - it might be late August, but it's still lovely here! We're a little late with the giveaway this month, but we're here nonetheless - and for the time being, we will be continuing to publish them monthly.
That said, we still desperately need more sponsors - so if you're interested in taking part, get in touch with us for a bit more information. It's not hard to take part and it can be a great way to advertise your makes!
The rules are: to enter, visit our sponsor's link(s) (at the end of the post) and post a comment here, telling us which of the items you've seen is your favourite. Entries are accepted at our discretion and the winner will be chosen at random. The giveaway will close at midnight (GMT) on Saturday 31st August 2013.
This month is kindly sponsored by Jenny Gilbert, who makes some fantastic jewellery from her home studio. But instead of me telling you all about it, let's hear from Jenny herself!
"I graduated from the University for Creative Arts in 2011 with a first class degree in Contemporary Jewellery. I finally left full time employment 18 months later to pursue my jewellery career! Most of my creations are made using sterling silver sheet and wire and are constructed using traditional hand-forging techniques.
All work is designed and handcrafted by myself in my home studio. I am inspired by nature, in particular plants, flowers and other organic matter. I like to take these forms and simplify them to their most basic components for my designs. I mostly use oxidised silver with pearls as the black silver really shows off the natural beauty of the pearl. I also think the black gives the pieces an almost industrial look which juxtaposes wonderfully with the subject matter and the delicacy of the pearl.
I'm passionate about being good to the environment and use recycled silver in all of my work. It is better for the environment as it doesn't add to mining and it doesn't exploit the miners either! I use eggs to oxidise (blacken) my silver rather than liver a sulphur, a toxic chemical which can be harmful to animal if it gets in to the waterways.
I love locking myself away in my workshop for hours on end, and the satisfaction that comes from applying to final polish to an item of jewellery. My favourite thing about being a jeweller is getting custom orders from people, learning about their stories and the meanings that they attach to their jewellery is wonderful.
This month I am giving away one pair of sterling silver stud earrings with tiny leaf detail - simple, elegant and delicate. They are 10mm in diameter with a 5mm leaf. They are 100% hand fabricated and come in an individually customised jewellery box.
Good luck! And if you don't win, please don't hesitate me to discuss your own order at firstname.lastname@example.org.
